Katherine Miller
 Teacher, Mathematics
Coates Hall 230 (210) 564-6235 k.miller@tmi-sa.org
Katherine Miller has taught at TMI since 2000, having previously taught three years in the Alamo Heights Independent School District and coached at Alamo Heights High School, following a year of teaching in the San Antonio Independent School District.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Texas at San Antonio and is working on a master’s in mathematics education from UTSA.
Ms. Miller holds lifetime Texas teacher certification in mathematics and computer science and is AP-certified. She has taught all levels of middle school math, as well as Algebra (Regular and Honors), Geometry, Algebra II, Algebra II/Trigonometry (Regular and Honors), Pre-calculus (Regular and Honors), Calculus AP, computer programming (both introductory and AP), as well as programming languages C++ and Java.
“Teaching at TMI allows me to teach the subject of mathematics rather than teaching to a test, as is done in public school,” says Ms. Miller. “I am also able to be more involved in the learning process of individual students and can change my curriculum or teaching style to fit the student’s needs. I find that the parents are supportive and appreciative of the long hours and effort that is put towards trying to meet the needs of each student at TMI.”
She also has served as form leader for the freshman and junior classes and as faculty sponsor for participation in the American Math Contest and currently coaches seventh grade girls basketball.
Ms. Miller has three children who are current students at TMI.
