Lisa Armendariz joined the TMI faculty in 2008, after working in the insurance industry in the actuary department. She had also tutored TMI and other students in math, an experience that gave her the idea to switch careers.

“When I was tutoring,” she says, “I’d hear from parents, ‘You really helped my child,’ and I realized I wanted to do something where I would have direct impact on people’s lives. That’s why I wanted to go into teaching.”

Miss Armendariz earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Texas A&M University at College Station and a master’s of business administration (MBA) from St. Mary’s University. She is a member of the National Society of Hispanic MBAs.

At TMI, she teaches Math 1 and Math 2 in the Middle School. She also is a sponsor for the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS).

She chose to teach at TMI because “It is a college preparatory school that develops students for leadership roles and to become servant leaders “
