HOME Club is collecting breakfast on the go food items this week in honor of Veterans' Day to donate to veterans. Bring your favorite on-the-go food to school this week and look for the donation bins in Ayres Hall and around campus.

SWAP Club is holding the annual Blessing of the Pets next Saturday, November 19.

The fall play opens tonight and runs until November 12. Call 210-564-6154 for tickets. All tickets are $10 each. Friday's performance is already sold out.

Middle School Halloween dance is Friday, October 28 from 7pm-10pm. Admission is $5 or $3 if you also bring a gently used book.

Saturday is the Morgan's Wonderland buddy day. If you signed up and were selected to be a model, please attend to meet your buddy. You may also contact Lauren Chu for more details. Buddy day will be from 10am-noon, please bring $15.

Upper School students will begin wearing their blazers on Wednesday, November 2.

This Saturday there is a "Buddy Day" for all students who have been selected as models in the Morgan's Wonderland community service project. For details, see Lauren Chu.

Interact students will be selling tickets during lunch for $5 to participate in the first "Take the scariness out of Alzheimer's" walk on Friday, October 28 at 7:30am.

The 1st quarter report cards are ready to be viewed in NetClassroom. Once you are logged in to NetClassroom, click on the grade tab for your child ("StudentName's" Grades). A drop-down menu will appear and you will be able to select "Report Card."

There will be a brief period of critical software maintenance conducted tonight at 11:00 p.m. on our administrative systems. We do not anticipate any delays or problems, however, the TMI website and NetClassroom may be offline for a short period. We encourage all students to complete their homework for the evening and check their assignments prior to maintenance starting at 11:00p.m.

Stars Over TMI raffle tickets are now for sale. Raffle tickets are $100 each. Every student that sells 5 raffle tickets will earn a $50 American Express gift card. Tcikets can be sold up until the event on October 1.

Senior students - please remember to bring a clean, appropriate t-shirt that represents who you are to Ayres Hall. These t-shirts will be made into a quilt from the senior class that will be auctioned off at Stars Over TMI.

Picture day is next Wednesday, September 7. Seniors, remember to wear nice, appropriate attire. All other students will be in uniform.

Grass is laid for the new multipurpose field. The new field will be ready for practice this fall; Assistant Athletic Director Chris Nelson, Booster Club supporter Pennie Domenico and Interim Headmaster Walter Spencer visited the new multipurpose field as grass was laid.

New Athletic Director Appointed for 2011-2012 School Year

TMI has appointed a new athletic director who will join us in July to prepare for the 2011-2012 school year.

Becky Geyer is a seasoned college coach with experience in all aspects of running a successful athletic program. Most recently, she coached women’s basketball at the U.S. Naval Academy, where her team won the 2011 Patriot League Conference Championship.

She also served as the longtime head women’s basketball coach at Trinity University, leading her team to an NCAA Division III National Championship as well as multiple conference titles. She also formerly coached at Jacksonville State University in Alabama and the University of Central Florida, both Division I schools. As a college coach, she has won coaching honors and developed many award-winning players.

Coach Geyer earned a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and a master’s in Education and has completed work toward a Ph.D. in Kinesiology. As a student, she was a multisport athlete, with playing experience in basketball, softball and volleyball.

As TMI’s athletic director, Coach Geyer will be responsible for all interscholastic athletic activities and our physical-education program, including development of the athletic curriculum, hiring and supervising coaches, scheduling games and officials, and ensuring compliance with TAPPS conference regulations. She will help develop our summer programs and continue the momentum generated by the ongoing Athletic Campaign.

Please join TMI in welcoming Coach Geyer to our community this summer and at the start of the next school year. Under her leadership, we anticipate a highly competitive future for all our TMI teams and expect to take Panther athletics to the next level.

Baccalaureate and Graduation General Information

The Baccalaureate Service will be held today, May 20th in All Saints Chapel beginning at 7:00 pm. The senior students should arrive by 6:30 pm and report to the theater to line up for the procession into the chapel. Male seniors should wear a coat and tie, dress slacks and shoes, girls usually wear a white dress or other dress appropriate for church. Please avoid low cut and overly short dresses.

The Graduation Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 21st in the TMI Amphitheater beginning at 7:30 pm. The senior students must arrive by 6:45 pm and report to the theater to robe and line up for the procession. A photographer will be here to photograph the students as they get their diploma. The website for the photographer will be on the TMI website for your convenience in purchasing these photographs.

Should it rain on Saturday, Dr. Freeman will make the call by 1:00 pm if we need to move the ceremony indoors. An emergency message will be sent to all parents and students as well as an e-mail letting you know if we need to move the ceremony indoors. The information will also be posted on the home page of the TMI website (under the Announcements) and a note will be added to the website calendar if the location is moved to the chapel.

Hope and Healing is selling wristbands today for $2.

Jones Library will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday this week during Upper School lunch.

Today is the last regular chapel of the school year. Tomorrow will be a special schedule for yearbook distribution, Wednesday will be the sports awards ceremony and Thursday's chapel will be the academic award certificates and senior celebration.

Seniors must complete their service hour requirements in order to graduate.

On Friday, May 13, the Priceless People will have their final lock-in with Leon Springs Elementary from 5pm - 7pm; please bring a snack or treat to share with your student.

If you would like a yearbook but did not pre-order, please bring a check for $80 tomorrow; students who did not pre-order a yearbook will be able to buy one on a first-come, first-serve basis. Seniors will have first priority.

Students no longer have to wear blazers on dress day for the remainder of the school year.

The last blood drive of the year will be this Thursday. It is not too late to sign up if you would still like to donate blood. The free dress day will only be for those students who donate blood.

On April 13, TMI students from Poetry Cafe will be performing at Barnes & Noble at 6pm.

Panther Scramble and the new Taste of TMI event is coming up on Monday! Get your Taste of TMI tickets for just $15 to enjoy the evening after the golf tournament.

Any Upper School student interested in playing an instrument as one of your scheduled classes for next year should go see Mr. Rod Leonard or Mrs. Barbara Zenner about signing up for the course. The course was unintentionally left out of the course catalog, so be sure to ask about it if you are interested!

The opening night performance of "Into the Woods" is this evening in the Margaret Alkek Theater. All performances this weekend are sold out, however, tickets are still available in the Ayres Hall Lobby for performances next week.

Reminder that students must be dropped off in the flag circle directly in front of Frost Athletic Center. Students should not be dropped off in the Ayres Hall Circle or the faculty parking lot.

The junior class was the winner of the Panther Paver sales contest. The Family Association has sold over 180 pavers with the support of the students! The junior class will receive a free dress day this Friday, March 25.

Tickets for the opening night performance of "Into the Woods" are sold out. You can still purchase tickets for next weekend's shows in the Ayres Hall lobby.

Members of the Hope and Healing club must return their blue forms in order to visit the hospitals.

The JuniorAct club is continuing to collect donations for the humane society. You may drop off your donations in the box that is located just outside Ayres Hall.

Students who will be attending the Fine Arts festival must return their registration forms and money to Mr. Rupe or Mr. Palandri.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, March 8, is a dress down day. In order to dress down, students must pay $5. Students should pay Mrs. Pam Nelson in the Registrar's Office to dress down.

Tonight is the informational meeting about the 2012 summer trip to Spain. The meeting will be in room 235 at 5:15 p.m. for all students and parents interested in finding out more about the upcoming trip.

TMI Family Association is continuing to sell Panther Pavers to raise funds for a cover over the sports court. The 8th grade class sold the most pavers during the last week and will have a free dress day on Thursday, March 10.

Mark your calendars: Habitat for Humanity service project scheduled for March 26.

Tomorrow, men's lacrosse will play Georgetown and Varsity softball has a game.

Students raised $107 for wildlife rescue for all of the donations made to their favorite ties decorated by students.

All next week, students can come to the flag circle from 7:15 am - 8:00 am to hold up signs promoting the Annual Fund Drive Week.
After spring break, a few students will be needed to help number golf balls for the Panther Scramble helicopter ball drop.

2nd Annual International Night will be held tomorrow night at 5:30 pm in the TMI refectory. Tickets will be sold at the door and during break and lunch today.

The TMI Times caption contest is taking place this week; captions are due Friday, March 4 and the first place winner will be placed in the spring issue of the The TMI Times.

Mark your calendars for Monday, March 7 to attend an informational meeting about the 2012 summer trip to southern Spain. The meeting will be at 5:15 pm in Coates Hall, room 235 if you are interested in attending the trip.

Robotics Club will compete this weekend in Dallas.

Congratulations to the girls Varsity basketball team for their hard work and determination and a big thank you to all the parents, students and faculty who came out to support them this past Saturday in Austin.

Tomorrow, March 1, is the last day to make a donation in the library for your favorite tie. The top three ties will be worn by Mr. Spencer, Mr. Bell, and Mr. Anglin.

The TMI fan bus for the girl's Varsity basketball game this Saturday in Austin will leave TMI at 2:30 pm and will return around 8:30 pm. There is not cost to ride the bus, but tickets to watch the game will most likely cost between $5 and $10 dollars, so students may want to have about $20 with them for the evening.

The TMI fan bus for the girl's Varsity basketball game this Saturday in Austin will leave TMI at 2:30 pm and will return around 8:30 pm. There are still a few seats open, students should see Taylor Watts if they are interested in riding on the bus to the game. Tickets will most likely cost between $5 and $10 dollars, so students may want to have about $20 with them for the evening.

Tomorrow is spirit dress day (tops only) with Dennis uniform bottoms.

Students who have detention this weekend should bring gloves and a water bottle.

TMI had 32 blood donations during the blood drive with the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center last week.

The Family Association is selling pavers. For each class that sells the most pavers, they will be rewarded with a free dress day! Freshman class has their dress day on Tuesday, March 1.

TMI International Club will be hosting its 2nd Annual International Night Dinner on Saturday, March 5 at 5:30pm in the TMI Refectory. Tickets are $7 each or two for $10 (find an International Club member to buy tickets or stop by the lobby in Ayres Hall). Proceeds will benefit international relief charities.

Girl's Varsity Basketball defeated Fort Bend in Area Championship game 53-42 on Saturday, Feb 19. They are now part of the Elite 8 and will play in Austin on Saturday, Feb 26.

Blood drive will be held next Wednesday. If you are 16 years old or younger, ipck up a parental consent form from the Infirmary and have it signed before you donate. Be sure to hydrate and eat! Students who would like to earn service hours can go to the Blood Drive bus at 9:00 a.m. to make PB&J sandwiches.

Cheerleaders are performing at the Alamodome tonight and tomorrow for their national compeition. Watch them tomorrow at 10 a.m.

The state swim meet is rescheduled for tomorrow only; girls will swim at 8 a.m. and boys swim at noon.

Students can still make a donation to vote on their favorite tie in the library. Voting will continue until the end of February and the money raised will be donated to the Wildlife Rescue. The three ties that receive the most votes will be worn by Mr. Spencer, Mr. Anglin and Mr. Bell.

Congratulations to Luke Matus and Spencer Romo on being named National Merit Finalists.

Students participating in Founder's Day events that require brooms, hula hoops or hockey sticks will need to provide their own equipment this year.

Founder's Day is still on for Thursday; it will be cold, so plan appropriately for the weather. The schedule will be reversed and all individual events will take place during the morning and the team events will take place in the afternoon when the temperature has risen.

If students require sound during their Founder's Day skits, Mr. Palandri must have the skits and requirements by the end of the day tomorrow.

TMI swim team will compete on Friday at the state swimming meet.

Military Ball etiquette for students this Saturday:

The self-park parking lot is free; however, if you choose to valet park, valet parking is $10 and a $2 to $5 tip upon receiving your vehicle at the end of the night is customary.
Photographers will be available beginning at 5:30pm to have portraits taken, check-in begins at 6:00pm.
The receiving line begins at 6:00pm and all cadets and their dates are expected to go through the line.
Turn off your cell phones during the program (7pm - 9pm) and be respectful of the speakers.
Ladies, you do not toast on the last toast that is given by the men to "all the beautiful ladies in the room." Your toasting flutes are your keepsake for the night and you may take them home.

Poetry Cafe performance is tonight.

Varsity Girls Soccer is #1 in district and TMI will be hosting the first playoff game!

The sophomore class is pre-selling carnations for Valentines Day during Upper School and Middle School lunches.

Blazers are not required as part of the uniform for tomorrow, Jan. 12, in order to allow students to dress warmly for tomorrow's Reveille. Students are encouraged to dress in several warm layers. All outerwear must be approved TMI outerwear only.

Some science and religion teachers are offering students the opportunity to earn extra credit by attending the Daunt Lecture this Thursday. Students should talk to their teachers for details and to find out whether their specific class is offering the extra credit opportunity.

On February 3, students have the opportunity to participate in a Valentine's Day party for the Good Samaritan center. Students will depart after 6th period by bus and return between 4 and 5 pm. Students should talk to Carli Domenico for details if they would like to participate.
